University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics is Hiring a Staff Nurse - UICC Bettendorf Endocrine Clinic 100% Near Bettendorf, IA

The University of Iowa Community Clinics (UICC) is seeking a Staff Nurse (40 hours per week) to work within our new Endocrinology Clinic in Bettendorf, IA. This position will primarily support Endocrine but could support other services/clinics based on clinical needs/hours.

Our clinics specializes in the expert care for diabetes and other conditions that affect your body’s glands, hormones, and metabolism. We provide personalized diabetes treatment plans and follow-up care. UI Diabetes Care is a leader in the treatment of people with diabetes and has developed innovative programs designed to help prevent and control diabetes. We use a patient-centered care approach—a partnership between you and your team of physicians, nurses and dietitians—to develop a diabetes treatment plan that meets your needs. This position will mainly support Endocrinology but could also support other service lines/clinics based on clinical needs/hours.

Our staff nurses develop relationships and get to know our patients and monitor patient care history and deliver personalized, compassionate care every time to each patient.

Duties to include:

  • Applies nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness.
  • Assesses patient health care preferences and expectations.
  • Collaboratively coordinates the continuum of care across settings.
  • Develops patient care plan based on patient condition, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic conditions that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes.
  • Implements patient care plan according to patient priorities, which includes interventions identified through nursing diagnoses. Documents/reports interventions and patient/family response.
  • Collaborates and integrates contributions of patients and families into multidisciplinary patient care plan.
  • Develops, coordinates and implements transfer/discharge planning throughout episode of care.
  • Implements nursing interventions according to department, division, and/or unit policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain safe environment for patients, visitors and staff. Follows universal precautions.
  • Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards

Percent of Time: 100% (40 hours per week)

Schedule: Variable hours, 7:30 AM – 5:00, no weekends, no holidays and no on-call time, primary position will support Endocrine could support other services/clinics change based on clinical needs/hours.

Location: Bettendorf, IA (this position could support other clinic locations, as needed)

Pay Grade: 52 https://hr.uiowa.edu/pay/guide-pay-plans/seiu-hourly-pay-plan

Salary: $26.10 up to $50.00 per hour

Qualifications
Education

  • An Associate’s Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (BSN), Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) is required.

Required Qualifications

  • Current license to practice in the state of Iowa by the time of hire.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions.
  • General computer skills are required.
  • Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards

Highly Desired Qualifications

  • Diabetic educator certification is highly desired
  • Endo population
  • Continues glucose monitoring / CGM
  • 3 - 5 years of recent staff nurse level experience in adult medical-surgical setting (highly desired)

Desired Qualifications

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Master’s Degree in Nursing is desired.
  • If Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is not yet obtained, in a BSN program is desirable.
  • If Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is not yet obtained, in a BSN program is desirable.· Certified Diabetes Educator or able to become certified within 2 years· Current experience in self-directed, independent roles (autonomous work ability)· 1-year minimum triage experience required (within the last 3 years).In order to be considered, applicants must upload resume
