Job Opportunity Job ID: 44799 Positions Location: St. Johns, MI Job Description General Purpose of Job: Description:Positions Location: St. Johns, MI Job DescriptionGeneral Purpose of Job: Operate x-ray equipment to obtain routine radiographs of prescribed areas of the body, according to physician orders (under supervision of registered technologists). Essential DutiesThis job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Caregivers may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.
Take x-ray images of specified body/parts as ordered, following established procedures.
Prepare patient and adjust equipment.
Position and instruct patient regarding procedures.
Provide Radiologists with necessary information for exam protocol and interpretation.
Greet patients and process orders for patient exams.
Respond to inquiries concerning the activities and operation of department by referring to established policies and procedures.
Perform imaging in a PACS environment including digitizing films for viewing, interpretation and storage on PACS.
Transport patients.
Use immobilization devices in accordance with standard practice. Lead protective devices to protect parts of the body not in the central ray and to reduce exposure to radiation. Automatic radiation shielding (collimators) at all times.
Provides educational and training expertise as needed to support the community based Radiological Technology program and other school system initiatives.
Assist in CT with patient transportation, prepping room for next exam, and cleaning room after the exam when idle in the general x-ray.
Job RequirementsGeneral Requirements
Certification with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) upon completion of Radiography Program (within 6 months of hire date). This is a requirement for continued employment in the Imaging Department.
Must receive CT certification within 15 months of the Radiology Board certified date.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified.
Work Experience
Successful completion of first year competencies in the Radiography Program.
Education
Must be enrolled in a fully accredited Radiologic Technology Program and proceeding successfully through the program. Upon completion of the training program, the student (Non-registered Technologist) must complete the required ARRT Boards under the guidelines and successful completion guidelines established by the ARRT Board (within six months)
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Ability to problem-solve and multitask.
Ability to perform physical requirements of the job.
Adept with customer service.
