This position is a split position within the Unit for Laboratory Animal Medicine (ULAM) Training Core and Technical Services groups. The primary function within the Training Core group is to train research personnel on animal research techniques and procedures. The primary function within the Technical Services group is to perform similar animal-related techniques and procedures for university investigators on a recharge fee-for-service basis. Techniques and procedures include dosing, monitoring, blood or tissue collection, euthanasia, or other requests. The majority of the services will focus on rodents, but other species may be included. This position involves public speaking in a teaching role and meeting customer's needs while providing excellent customer service. This position also involves professional verbal and written communication and frequent collaboration with team members. Applicants must be able to manage their time, prioritize tasks and work independently. Applicants must be comfortable and able to work with the Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), as well as with other software systems utilized by the ULAM Training Core and Technical Services. Applicants should have experience with rodents (at minimum) and should be able to perform basic laboratory animal techniques. Applicants must work collaboratively, with researchers as well as members of the Technical Service and Training Core teams. All training and services must be performed in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
