The Law School is hiring an Administrative Assistant to provide general administrative support to the Admissions and Financial Aid offices. Duties include collecting, compiling, and analyzing moderately complex data and information; composing straightforward written descriptions of results; greeting guests and drop-in visitors, answering phones and monitoring email inboxes, routing telephone calls as appropriate; and responding to inquiries regarding the admissions and financial aid processes.
Other duties include assisting alumni, current students, and prospective students with financial aid questions; scheduling appointments and coordinating calendars; making travel arrangements for staff attending law school fairs; planning law school tours, class visits, and recruiting events; processing travel stipends for visiting students; processing application fee waivers; preparing correspondence; maintaining office filing systems; preparing recruitment mailing; maintaining office supply inventory; occasionally providing administrative support for the Assistant Dean for Financial Aid; and assisting in general office procedures as needed. Other duties concomitant with the particular skills and interests of the hired candidate may be added.

A high school diploma is required as is some experience in higher education, either through classwork or work experience. The selected candidate will have knowledge of and experience with word processing, database management systems, spreadsheets, electronic calendaring, and email programs, and a proven ability to easily adapt to new computer technology. The selected candidate must be able to handle a heavy workload while paying close attention to detail and maintaining a high level of accuracy, and must have strong organizational skills. The selected candidate must have the ability to remain calm while working with people who are under stressful circumstances; confidence and self-assurance are critical.
College degree preferred, with an understanding and appreciation of the goals of higher education and school admissions. Experience with HTML, strong writing skills, and familiarity with social networking media are desired. We are also seeking candidates who demonstrate enthusiasm, creativity, energy, discipline, collegiality, judgment, discretion, commitment to diversity, passion for excellence, and a sense of humor. Knowledge of University policies and procedures and MPathways is helpful, as is experience with event planning and tracking of financial expenditures.
