SummaryLSA Technology Services is looking for a passionate audio-visual professional to join our design/build team as a Project Engineer Associate in a two year limited appointment, building and supporting state of the art AV systems in a College of Literature, Science and the Arts led installation and integration project in the new College of Pharmacy Building. During this two-year appointment, the Associate Field Installer will be challenged with installing a range of innovative AV systems, including everything from simple Huddle Room installations and digital signage to high-end conference rooms and to sophisticated AVoIP Team-based Learning classroom systems. Day-to-day tasking will include the whole effort necessary to successfully install systems onsite: project planning and coordination with your teammates; collecting, prepping, and transportation of components; onsite installation and job site management; vetting, commissioning, and training of AV technicians and faculty/staff users on the finished systems; and assisting in the communication and documentation to keep track of our efforts and equipment. Required Qualifications*
At least 2-3 years of relevant AV technology experience (or equivalent work experience in one of the following areas: AV Systems Integration/Installation, AV Design, Audio Engineering). Strong technical skills with the ability to evaluate situations utilizing logical and decisive reasoning; Creative problem-solving abilities and technical analysis skills, Analyze issues in the field and make decisions as the position allows. Working knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of AV installation, in order to complete renovations and new installations, as well as maintain and troubleshoot existing conference room systems. Technical knowledge to read and comprehend advanced IT and AV system drawings, specifications, and schematics; as well as common architectural, IT, and AV design drawing types; Network, Audio, Video, and Control Flow diagrams; Architectural, Mechanical, Data Network, and Electrical drawing sets. Superior interpersonal and team building skills: Ability to work equally well independently and in a team; Ability to make independent decisions within the scope of assigned tasks; Ability to maintain a professional and
positive attitude; and Ability to work well with a diverse population in a university environment interacting equally well with faculty, administrators, contractors, and skilled trades. Strong written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated experience with MS Office software applications, Google Collaboration tools, team communication tools (Slack), project tracking applications, and other applications
Physical RequirementsMove and transport objects such as projectors, screens, monitors, AV racks, and AV podia with weights up to 50 lbs (frequency of working with the maximum weight during installation may be up to several times a semester). Navigate a 12 ft ladder to install AV equipment in classrooms, auditoria, and departmental spaces. This will involve maneuvering projectors and other equipment (weight of up to 35 lbs) to installation locations on ceilings and walls. Manipulate and install objects overhead such as projectors, projection screens, and television monitors (weighing up to 50 lbs). Navigate and work safely on a construction site. Travel between buildings during inclement weather. Move cart-based equipment between buildings. Work in enclosed spaces, particularly around installed rack units in enclosed spaces. Work for an extended period of time to access AV racks, panels, and equipment at a height of 3 to 7 feet.
Desired Qualifications*
CTS Certification or equivalent. Demonstrated experience working AV/IT projects in Higher Ed environment. Broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of the specialized field of AV Systems and Digital AV technologies for instructional initiatives in Higher Education and university environment. Experience installing and supporting classroom IT and AV technologies, as well as working within complex digital systems within classroom settings. Demonstrated experience working on construction sites and following all required safety regulations, OSHA guidelines, and local job site requirements. Experience working on projects with teams of 7 people. Manufacturer certifications (eg: Crestron, Dante).
