Responsibilities*
New Patient Registration (40%)Entering new patient information into the EHR system
Obtain/verify the correct mailing address, phone numbers, other personal/demographic information, emergency contacts, primary care physician, insurance information, and the person financially responsible for the treatment.
Complete insurance registration
Upload images and/or outreach to patients
Receives and post payments (potential change after implementation of Epic)
Maintains high attention to detail by reviewing all work for completeness and accuracy in compliance with system quality assurance policies
Pre-Appointment Insurance Eligibility Checking(30%)Contact insurance companies via online resources or by phone to ensure insurance coverage is active and that our information is correct.
Utilize an electronic insurance verification system to verify insurance benefits and determine copay and/or coinsurance for the patient's services
Provide education to patients regarding insurance benefits and patient liability for services.
Contacts patients via phone for necessary information pertaining to registration, billing, and financial responsibility via our pre-registration process.
Assists patients at the time of service with general benefit and financial responsibility inquiries.
Functional Lead of Patient Registration Team (25%)Reviews timesheets for accuracy and assists with performance evaluations with the manager.
Support manager in the recruitment process
Provides in-service training and onboarding for new patient registration staff
Partner with other functional leads to develop and maintain training materials; assess if new training resources are needed.
Participates with leadership to ensure effective Patient Registration operations
Ensure that registrations are being completed daily according to specified clinic standards.
Perform a variety of miscellaneous job responsibilities (5%)Pertinent to the workflow of the position.
Receives complex questions and problems from peers and troubleshoots issues as they arise
Maintains current knowledge of insurance requirements communicated by email, memorandum, educational matrices and in-services.
Required Qualifications*
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3 years of work experience in healthcare registration.
  • Competent in using technology such as handheld computers, word processing, data entry, spreadsheets, and email.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality with respect to patient information.
  • Must exhibit a professional and positive image when interacting with patients, departmental staff members, and health professionals.
Desired Qualifications*
  • Experience working with Epic software.
  • Experience working within higher education medical centers and clinics
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification
  • Knowledgeable about dental insurance

This position may be eligible for flexible work opportunities at the discretion of the hiring department. Flexible work agreements are reviewed annually and are subject to change dependent on the business needs of the hiring department, throughout the course of employment.
