Summary

The University of Michigan's College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA) is the largest of U-M's 19 schools and colleges. LSA has a diverse research portfolio that encompasses research in the Humanities, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences. With over 700 hundred proposal submissions per year, we are expanding our team in the LSA Research Office to enhance the research development and proposal support provided to faculty in LSA.

We are seeking a collaborative, team-focused individual to join our growing LSA Research Office team. As a Research Administrator Associate, this individual will be responsible for a variety of research administration and research development activities. This individual will be responsible for providing support to the LSA Research Office as well as providing support for faculty-facing projects. This position will work closely with both research administrators within the College of LSA and the LSA Research Office team.

Responsibilities*

* Develop/Maintain templates for routine proposal components and assist with institutional letters of support

* Monitor and support researchers to maintain compliance in areas such as RCRS, sponsor reports due dates, MInform, etc.)

* Provide ad hoc support to faculty as needed as part of the proposal or progress report submission process, including providing formatting support of routine proposal components and assisting with publication repository/public access (PMCID)

* Review internal funding requests for compliance with guidelines, monitor funding balances, and generate reports

* Assist with developing reports and compiling information from a variety of sources, such as Business Objects, Tableau, and Google sheets

* Coordinate workshops for research development opportunities

* Use available technology to develop efficiencies in processes

* Participate in continuous process improvement efforts and assist other team members in the LSA Research Office as needed

Required Qualifications*

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience

* Progressive knowledge of Excel and other Office products and comfort with changing technology is essential

* Collaborate effectively with co-workers and work with a diverse group of stakeholders providing excellent customer service

* Demonstrated ability to work under pressure of deadlines and competing priorities

* The ability to set priorities and manage competing deadlines is required

* Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with strong attention to detail

* Exceptional communication skills in both written and verbal form

Work Locations

As part of the University of Michigan's Future Work Initiative and LSA Finance's Flexible Work Arrangements, this position may work on campus or remotely but will require individuals to come to campus as needed for training, meetings, team building, and to foster intentional collaboration.
