Job Description

This position will help develop and implement strategies that engage St. Louis area alumni in supporting the University of Missouri. As part of the Mizzou Alumni Association (MAA), we will maximize opportunities in Mizzou’s largest alumni market to cultivate a sense of belonging, amplify alumni impact, and elevate the university's strength and success.

Job Duties

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive calendar of events and activities to actively engage St. Louis area alumni, including a flagship event designed to foster high engagement and philanthropic support.
  • Recruit, train, and motivate alumni volunteers to support achieving the Mizzou Alumni Association’s engagement goals. Coordinate assistance for the St. Louis Alumni Advisory Committee, St. Louis Scholarship Committee, and STL Ambassador program. Serve as staff liaison for regional alumni chapters in the area adjacent to St. Louis.
  • Execute and reinforce a marketing and communications strategy tailored to the St. Louis market, leveraging a mix of engagement channels.
  • Lead efforts to enhance financial backing for St. Louis engagement and scholarships, involving identifying, cultivating, stewardship, and soliciting prospective members, donors, corporate sponsors, and advertisers.
  • Optimize the impact of existing MAA programs in St. Louis, including young alumni and affinity networks.
  • Actively promote and celebrate alumni accomplishments and accolades.
  • Spearhead the launch, management, and promotion of new initiatives to bolster alumni engagement.
  • Foster collaboration with key campus stakeholders, including Advancement, Athletics, Admissions, and others, to enhance outreach efforts and forge strategic partnerships. Spend time on campus with the MAA team during pre-designated times to build relationships and collaborate on the overall goals of MAA and Mizzou Advancement.
  • Support MAA events and programs beyond the designated focus area (such as Homecoming, athletics events, and others) that foster alumni, student, and community involvement and pride.

Shift

M-F 8am-5pm This role is based in the greater St. Louis area and will work remotely. Travel to the MU campus 1 or 2 times monthly for in-person meetings and collaborations is required.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of work experience in alumni relations, volunteer management, or a comparable professional position.
  • Familiar with St. Louis neighborhoods and geography.
  • Background in event planning and/or fundraising.
  • Experience providing top-tier customer service.
  • Proven success coordinating and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Adept at taking initiative and keeping projects on track.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $50k -$65k

Grade: GGS-9E
