Job Description

We seek a dynamic and strategic Fundraiser to join the University Programs team. This role will primarily focus on building and nurturing relationships with corporate funders and some foundation supporters to secure funding for our healthcare initiatives. The ideal candidate will be highly collaborative, skilled in conducting internal research to identify and match opportunities, and adept at facilitating connections between internal stakeholders and external funders. This role will work with the AVC, University Programs, the AVC, the Health System, and the Executive Directors of Corporate Relations and Foundation Relations to execute strategies to build on existing corporate partnerships and develop a prospect pipeline to bring new and increased corporate resources to the University. The role will foster a holistic, partner-centric model to drive revenue through:

  • Traditional philanthropy, including gifts and in-kind support
  • Grants and funded research opportunities
  • Workforce development programs
  • Other innovative partnership contributions

Job Description:
As a member of the University Programs team, essential skills and responsibilities for this role include:

Internal Research and Opportunity Matching:
Intellectual depth, professionalism, and collaborative skills are required to gain the trust and confidence of both internal and external constituents.

  • Conduct thorough research to understand internal projects, programs, and funding needs.
  • Identify and align funding opportunities with organizational priorities and strategic initiatives.
  • Facilitate and coordinate internal meetings to discuss funding opportunities and develop strategies.


Corporate Partnership Development:

Knowledge of corporate engagement strategies within the healthcare sector.

  • Identify, cultivate, and manage relationships with corporate partners.
  • Develop tailored proposals and presentations to secure private support from industry via sponsorships, grants, and donations.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with corporate partners, ensuring they are engaged and informed about our projects and their impact.


Foundation Engagement:

Knowledge of traditional and emerging foundations, fundraising techniques, and strategies.

  • Research and identify foundation funding opportunities aligned with our mission and programs.
  • Identify and build relationships with university administrators and faculty leading research and programs that match the philanthropic mission of significant foundations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with foundation representatives.
  • Prepare and submit compelling grant applications and proposals to foundations.


Stakeholder Liaison:

Project management and organizational skills, with the proven ability to manage multiple, complex projects and relationships with initiative.

  • Serve as a key liaison between internal stakeholders (e.g., program managers, researchers, senior leadership) and external funders.
  • Organize and staff meetings with internal and external stakeholders to discuss funding opportunities and project alignment.
  • Ensure clear and effective communication between all parties involved.


Strategy and Reporting:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the proven ability to produce compelling communication materials and present complex subjects concisely and persuasively.

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy for corporate and foundation giving.
  • Track and report on fundraising progress, including pipeline development, proposal submissions, and funding received.
  • Provide regular updates to senior leadership and the development team on fundraising activities and outcomes.

Mon-Fri 8-5pm

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience in corporate fundraising, foundation relations, or a similar role within the healthcare sector with a proven track record of securing significant funding from corporate and foundation sources.
Excellent research, writing, and communication skills, strong organizational and project management abilities, and the capacity to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders are highly desirable.
Knowledge of the healthcare industry and its funding landscape. Demonstrated strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, relationship-building and networking skills, persuasive writing and proposal development, research and analytical skills, project management and organizational capabilities, and strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000

Grade: GGS-012
