Job Description

Job Description:

The NextGen Precision Health building, Dr. Ryan Castoro laboratory is currently seeking Scientist position to support Dr. Castoro's research efforts in defining Genetic, Epigenetic and Phenotypc traits in Neuromuscular diseases. This position is designed to support pre-clinical efforts in designing bio markers for axon degeneration, a desperately need measure to advance clinical trials for patients with Neuromuscular disease.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out scientific protocol and research experiments towards Dr. Castoro’s research goals.
  • Executing independent research on ultrasound as a measurement of axon loss. Includes designing ultrasound sequencing protocols and ultrasound data analysis. After ultrasound is performed molecular studies are performed on mouse sciatic nerves to correlate ultrasound and ultrastructure data.
  • Maintaining regulatory documents (IRB, IACUC and IBC) for studies ongoing in Dr. Castoro's with data entry into databases.
  • Working with research team in writing scientific manuscripts for publishing in peer reviewed journals.
  • Contributing to post-doctoral, graduate and undergraduate mentoring.
  • Other duties as assigned

Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in related/ relevant area and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $51,875 - $73,008 per year

Grade: GGS-010

University Title: Scientist
