Essential Functions
The position of Assistant Coach – Player Personnel will create and implement team and individual programming to ensure Men’s Basketball student-athletes succeed in academic and personal development plans. This position will assist with on-floor coaching instruction per NCAA rules and will do so during both practices and individual workouts with student-athletes. This individual will be responsible for breaking down games and practice film to better instruct and support the success of each student-athlete. Assist with the recruiting, which includes evaluations of prospective student athletes, on-campus recruiting and correspondents. In addition, this position will lead each men’s basketball student-athlete in their own respective personal growth plan, focused on academic, athletic, and community goals. This individual will be the primary contact with the men’s basketball athletics academic coordinator. This position will also oversee all aspects of men’s basketball camps and clinics, including hiring camp counselors and coaching camp attendees throughout various portions of the camp/clinic.
Leadership and Management:
  • Coach both during practice and individual workouts of each student-athlete.
  • Instruct student-athletes in academic and personal development plans. Provides effective feedback to student-athletes regarding their plans.
  • Anticipates needs of program, works with support staff and members of Omaha Athletics to ensure execution of responsibilities.
Strategy and Planning:
  • Manage practice and game film to provide feedback to ensure effective training and development.
Strategic Planning & Leadership
  • Implement student-athlete development for the team both within and outside of the field of competition. Create an evaluation system for individuals work to track progress and development.
  • Plans and directs the sport training of student athletes. Assesses student-athletes’ skills and designs strategy to enhance skillset. Works directly with student athletes at practices and demonstrates proper technique; facilitates competition preparation and tournament management.
Management
  • Manage all information regarding camps; hire workers, process paperwork, and track registration.
  • Coach portions of camps/clinics to camp attendees
  • Instruct student-athletes of responsibilities during camps/clinics
  • Create and maintain a positive culture within the program.
Other
  • Engage the public, donors, and media in support of the program by attending community functions representing the institution.
  • Adhere to all University, Conference and NCAA policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
