Description of Work
In collaboration with the Director of Student Affairs Business Services and unit leaders, the Associate Director of Budget and Forecasting leads budget development, financial analysis, and forecasting processes for Student Affairs. This role will aid in providing strategic analysis to ensure all fiscal obligations are met, including the institutional debt coverage requirements and adequate reserves are retained to ensure business continuity planning.
The Associate Director of Budget and Forecasting is responsible or will aid in:
  • Analyzing financial data, developing models, and creating reports that provide guidance in the decision-making process for short term and long-term planning and organizational effectiveness. Reviewing and analyzing financial reports and identifying budgetary variances.
  • Collaborate with appropriate unit leaders to help identify solutions.
  • Assist in revenue allocation and reconciliation
  • Prepares short and long-term strategic and financial goals for the division and advises
  • departments on budget and administration of budget materials.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors financial plans for building renovations,
  • construction, and maintenance projects.'
  • Plans, reviews, directs, and advises division financial liquidity and cash flow
  • requirements.
  • Participates in the annual fee and rate setting ( UPFF , Room, Board, and others) and approval process.

In addition, this position will develop Student Affairs procedures to accommodate changes brought about by the system and University policy and procedure changes, problem solve various SAP , Access, and accounting issues, and review financial statements for omissions and incorrectly posted items and ensure corrections are made.

Minimum Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree with major in business administration, accounting or related area. Five years of progressive experience in finance or related field. Experience with budgeting, forecasting and data analysis.
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities that are needed to qualify for entry into position:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Research and problem solving skills.
  • Knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Excel or similar products.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex data.
Preferred Qualifications
MBA or Masters in Accounting, CPA or related area.
  • Experience in a University setting.
  • Experience working with complex financial data. Experience working financial modeling and using financial software.
  • Experience with Microsoft Access, and SAP
  • Experience preparing budgets and forecasts within a large organization.
  • Experience with year-end processes.
  • Skill in preparing financial statements and other accounting related reports.
  • Understanding of accounting policy and procedures.

Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required. Subject to DOT approved pre-employment & random testing for alcohol and controlled substances.
