Description of Work
The Owner's Representative/ Project Manager (PM) is the University's representative to oversee and advise University clients/ user groups throughout the design and construction process. The Owner's Representative provides comprehensive oversight and facilitates the delivery of new and modified University facilities and buildings for use and occupation to include planning, design, construction, occupancy, and warranty for new and modified University facilities. The owner's representative acts as the owner's trusted advisor, representing University interests throughout construction projects. The PM will effectively deliver completed projects within the specified project requirements, schedule, budget, and programmatic purpose. Successful projects are achieved through active PM leadership and stakeholder partnering. Assigned projects will vary in scope and include complexities requiring initiative, communication, risk management thinking, and problem solving as well as knowledge of multifaceted design and construction issues and specialties. The PM works as part of a creative team to deliver the vision of clients and campus stakeholders.
This position is part of the University of Nebraska Facilities Planning and Capital Projects ( FPCP ) team that offices in Lincoln, Nebraska. FPCP is responsible for projects occurring on the UN-Lincoln, Omaha, and Kearney campuses. This position works from the office in Lincoln but can have work assignments at any of the campuses. This position is defined as non-essential (per inclement weather policy) and will have the ability to work from home during bad weather.

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Three (3) years of experience performing owner's representative project management functions within the construction industry.
Work Experience that includes:
  • Demonstrated experience developing budgets and/or cost estimating to support facility construction upgrades or renovations
  • Project management experience integrating and providing oversight to planning, design and construction activities
  • Managing multiple upgrade or renovation projects simultaneously
  • Experience using project management systems
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of software programs (MS Project, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and basic skills with 2D and 3D design with an eye for attention to detail
In lieu of meeting educational degree requirements an applicant may be considered if they have an equivalent combination of education and experience that furnishes an understanding of construction procedures, design tools, and project management principles.

Preferred Qualifications
  • College coursework in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Interior Design
  • Demonstrated proficiency in REVIT , 3D design, AutoCAD, Sketchup and/or GIS .
  • Prior work experience as an Owner's Representative
  • Experience with an architecture/ engineering consulting firm OR Experience working with non-profit, state or government organizations
