Position Summary

The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) seeks a highly motivated individual to work as a member of the A&S Dean's office Research Support Team to build a strong, competitive research program as part of the Faculty Research Development Network. The successful candidate will work with College Faculty Research Support Officers (FRSOs) to support the development of CAS proposals for external funding, assisting researchers in developing the non-technical portions of proposals. Core tasks for this position include the development and evaluation of budgets, budget justifications, the development of records in UNM’s research administration software, and helping ensure that proposals address all sponsor-required criteria. The successful candidate will have effective problem-solving skills, be highly organized, and work effectively as part of a team, and manage multiple activities with firm deadlines.

This entry-level position will allow opportunities for promotion and/or professional developments depending on successfully job performance.

Duties & Responsibilities

·Assistinvestigatorsinallelementsofpre-awardgrantand contract development,including:

·Reviewandinterpretationoffundingguidelinesanddevelopmentofa "checklist" for the investigators’ use

·Communication ofandadherence tobothinternalandexternaldeadlines

·Proposal development and preparation, including completion of all internal forms,sponsorforms,budgetdevelopment,documentcollection,andassistance with formatting when required and appropriate

·Assistance with the development and routing of Streamlyne records

·Provide guidance to faculty on the UNM proposal submission process

·Serveastheliaisonbetween the PI and the CentralOffice of Sponsored Projects

·TrackallplannedandpendinggrantandcontractapplicationsusingtheFRDO Reporting tool

Conditions of Employment
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

·Associate’s Degree 2 years of related experience or a Bachelor’s Degree.

·Effective written and verbal communication skills

·Experience with funding proposals, including budgets and budget narratives.

·Strong organizational skills with the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects

·Experience preparing federal grant submissions

·Ability to communicate professionally with faculty in an array of disciplines that use diverse methodological approaches

·Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
