The Center for Development and Disability (CDD), established in 1990, is New Mexico's University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service. These centers, authorized by the Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act, build the capacities of states and communities to respond to the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

CDD's Family and Community Partnerships Division, Partners for Employment (PFE) program is looking to hire an Education Specialist with skills to work both online and in-person with communities throughout New Mexico. This position coordinates and facilitates trainings, hosts regional meetings, and provides technical assistance in support of PFE's mission to advance supported employment best practices for persons with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD).

The ideal candidate will have

  • strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written);
  • ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in diverse communities;
  • ability to share content information, manage multiple projects, shift priorities, and meet monthly reporting deadlines;
  • strong project management, organization and team coordination skills.

The ideal candidate will also have experience

  • leading and facilitating community teams;
  • providing training and technical assistance to individuals with diverse levels of technical skills;
  • utilizing digital technologies to create and deliver trainings;
  • working with individuals with I/DD in a school, supported employment or community setting.

This position requires regular statewide travel.

Conditions of Employment
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Experience

  • working with individuals with I/DD in a school, community or employment setting;
  • leading and facilitating community teams to develop and implement activities;
  • creating professional-level digital content.

Knowledge of

  • state and national resources available to youth and adults with I/DD;
  • post-secondary transition, and school-to-work best practices.

Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Project management, organization and coordination skills.
