Position Summary | Maintains the donor database, prepares reports and provides analytical assistance in interpretation of fundraising results. Works closely with management and vendors to execute marketing plans. Implements procedural changes based on analysis and observation. May lead or guide lower graded staff and provide technical guidance, training and support in the daily operations of the department. Job Detail We are looking for an innovative person to join KUNM’s Development Department to help raise and manage the community funding that keeps our important service operating at its best. We need someone who is great with people (our donors), excellent with details (our data), and who has experience working with relational databases (our systems). The Member Data Specialist will work directly with KUNM donors and manage the Raiser’s Edge/NXT and Luminate relational database systems used within the KUNM Development Department. Our successful candidate will ensure that member data is accurately entered, donations are processed, and reports are retrievable. Direct work with donors involves phone calls, emails, and other forms of correspondence. Donation management incorporates processing a variety of donor contributions by mail, web, and those generated by phone during our semi-annual, weeklong, on-air fundraising campaigns. Donation processing includes vehicle donations, checks, credit card and online donations given to KUNM. The Member Data Specialist will also create banking deposits and assist with generating and reconciling monthly financial transactions documents for the annual audit and ensure complete accountability to our donors. Day in the Life (Expectations) You will work with Raiser’s Edge/NXT and Luminate online database to track and acknowledge online donations. You will need to have the skills to provide excellent customer service to about 8,000 active donors. There is some flexibility in designing your daily, weekly, monthly, and annual workflow. Donations to KUNM are consistent, meaning you will always have something to do. Stewardship of our donors is the priority as well as accurately processing donor contributions. ·Answer emails and donor inquiries. ·Return donor phone calls. ·Pick up and distribute mail. ·Process daily contributions oOnline donations. oDonations received in the mail. oVehicle donation. ·Data entry – Manage entry of donations into Raiser’s Edge. ·Generate queries in Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge database. ·Create mail merge for acknowledgement letters. Minimum Qualifications | High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. |
Preferred Qualifications | ·Skill in the use of relational databases (including queries) and databases of a complex nature. ·Skill with Excel spreadsheets, including exports from queries, summaries, and mail merge. ·Excellent time management skills. Comfort with shifting and prioritizing tasks. ·Highly organized and detail oriented. ·Cash and credit card handling experience. ·Basic accounting training and experience. ·Ability to investigate and analyze information and make recommendations, draw conclusions, and exercise sound judgement. ·Ability to verify data input and correct errors. ·Clerical, word processing and general office skills. ·Excellent communication skills to enhance member relations and to ascertain information, resolve issues, and answer questions. ·Ability to communicate database information and donation processing procedures to student employees and non-technical personnel. |
