Primary Purpose of Position | The Assistant Director is responsible for assisting the Director and Associate Directors in meeting established enrollment goals each year. This is accomplished through the formulation and implementation of a comprehensive marketing, recruitment and admissions plan that includes targeted advertising, travel, campus visitation programs, scholarship awards, and written and telephonic communications. The Assistant Director is responsible for developing and managing the full admissions funnel for an assigned territory including inquiries, applicants, accepted and enrolled students. This position uses independent authority and discretion and is authorized to commit the University to admissions decisions and scholarship awards within an assigned territory. |
Job Description | 1. Territory Management: Collect, analyze and interpret data Formulate goals based on historical trends and projections Develop and implement an individualized recruitment plan with appropriate objectives and strategies. Formulate and implement a comprehensive travel plan that includes college fairs, high school private visits and special programs as required. 2. Funnel Management: Build an inquiry pool sufficient in size and quality to reach established enrollment goals. Communicate via phone, email and letters with most qualified inquiries to encourage submission of the application Maintain communication with applied students to encourage and support completion of the application process. Independently evaluate completed files and make admission decisions based on established criteria. Maintain contact with accepted students using yield enhancement strategies to reach enrollment goals. 3. Render Admission Decision: Perform a thorough assessment of completed applicant files: Check citizenship, make initial residency determination, review high school/college history, including graduation status and date, minimum course requirements, GPA, SAT or ACT (optional), and class rank, and examine entire package, especially campus safety questions, for inconsistencies or red flags For transfer applicants, the Assistant Director will also recalculate the GPA on transferable college work, and use assigned authority and discretion to award UNC Pembroke transfer credit as appropriate. Make a decision to admit or deny the student upon completion of file evaluation 4. On and Off Campus Events Planning: Plan dates, budget, develop agenda and secure speakers, facilities, food, beverages and collateral campus support for numerous events. 5. On campus private visits and tours: Conduct counseling interviews with prospective and/or admitted students and family members. Conduct campus tours "individual and group" Tailor private visit to meet individual needs for all visitors (Sit in on class, meet with coach, visit Financial Aid, Eat in Dining Facility, etc.) 6. Financial Aid: Coordinate with Financial Aid to counsel students on award packages and leverage aid to support enrollment goals. 7. Serve as University Ambassador for special programs sponsored by the Chancellor's Office, Academic Affairs, Advancement, Student Affairs, University and Community Relations, Business Affairs, Athletics and other areas as requested. |
Management Preference | Experience in marketing or sales, and or event planning. Excellent communication skills, and ability to interpret and make data driven decisions. Go above and beyond to provide impeccable customer service. Ability to travel extensively in and out-of-the state of North Carolina. Previous experience in a higher education setting and or Undergraduate Admissions environment is preferred. |
