Position Overview
Provide individual and group counseling services for University of Northwestern – St. Paul students.
What will I do in this position?
Essential job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provide individual and group counseling services, therapy group counseling services, and educational seminars with Northwestern students.
- Maintain updated and comprehensive intake, case and summary notes of counseling services and communication with Northwestern students.
- Administer, score and interpret psychological tests, as appropriate, with Northwestern students.
- If qualified, maintain involvement in clinical supervision with counseling staff.
- Maintain communication with appropriate University of Northwestern – St. Paul staff and faculty, as appropriate.

What will it take to succeed in this position?
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Master’s degree in Psychology or equivalent field of study, required
- The ideal candidate will possess a valid mental health license or be eligible to obtain one
- Previous individual counseling setting experience, required
- Experience working with women and issues pertaining to female sexuality from female perspective, required
- Continually nurture a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; serve as a consistent witness for Jesus Christ; maintain a kind, Christ-like attitude in dealing with and ministering to people within and outside of Northwestern; and faithfully uphold and embrace Northwestern’s mission, doctrinal statement, and Declaration of Christian Community.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to adhere to APA/ACHA standards of ethical practice
- Ability to maintain professional and ethical standards throughout employment at University of Northwestern – St. Paul
- Ability to articulate and defend perspective on the relationship between the discipline of Psychology and the Christian faith
- Ability to interact with a variety of individuals in a professional, courteous and tactful manner
- Ability to maintain a flexible schedule
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to pass a background check upon hire and periodically throughout the course of employment
