Manages and reviews all faculty action requests. Reviews and interprets University bylaws, policies, and guidelines and provides operational support to employees. Advises on procedures and action approvals. Facilitates high-visibility development initiatives.
SCI-Office of the Dean
The School of Computing and Information (SCI) seeks a Faculty Affairs Manager to review and interpret University bylaws, policies, and guidelines with respect to all faculty personnel actions and in compliance to the current collective bargaining agreement (CBA), including but not limited to faculty appointments, reappointments, promotions, award of tenure, faculty recruitment, and leaves of absence. They will assist academic units with questions regarding faculty policies, procedures, and guidelines. They are responsible for facilitating the processing of faculty actions, faculty recruitment requests, requests to negotiate, and the maintenance of faculty records. This position will be instrumental in drafting reappointment, appointment, as well as promotion & tenure letters and faculty policies for SCI.The incumbent will also plan, coordinate, and staff multiple high-visibility faculty development initiatives, such as faculty panel presentations, workshops, and programs. The incumbent will also serve on university and school committees as needed.
Individual Will Provide Day-to-day Management Of Faculty Affairs Under The Direction Of The Senior Director Of Business Administration. The Manager Will Work With SCI Faculty, SCI Department Chairs, OHR-Faculty Records, The Provost Office, Dean, Executive Associate Dean, And Other University Offices To Design, Implement, And Monitor Faculty Policies And Programs For The School Of Computing And Information In The Following Areas
  • faculty recruitment, on-boarding, and retention
  • faculty appointments and reappointments
  • faculty actions (e.g. sabbatical, leave-of-absence, etc.)
  • annual and periodic trend analysis (e.g. retention, recruitment, etc.)
  • maintenance of SCI faculty records
  • faculty awards and recognition
  • faculty promotion and tenure
  • performance evaluation and annual reviews
  • endowed chair and emeritus appointments
  • faculty reporting and compliance.
Essential FunctionsA baccalaureate degree is required, with 3 years of experience working in faculty affairs in higher education or with faculty in a legal or human resources capacity. Must have knowledge of academic appointments and promotion process. Also, the qualified candidate must have experience fostering diversity and working in a multi-cultural environment. The ability to exercise confidentially, honesty and exhibit actions that build trust are essential. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are also required. Must be a strong advocate and demonstrator of SCI values. Experience working in academia and with faculty affairs, CBAs, and faculty is strongly preferred.
Physical EffortLittle physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary.
