R0007641 USF Hilltop Campus Job Title: Director of Partnerships, MA inInternational Studies and MA in Migration Studies Job Summary: Under the general supervision and direction of the Associate Dean, the Director of Partnerships for the graduate programs in International Studies (MAIS) and Migration Studies (MIMS) will have both internal and external-facing responsibilities in developing industry partnerships and internships. The Director of Partnerships will serve as the liaison between MAIS/MIMS, external companies and organizations, and USF staff and administration. The Program Director has four broad areas of responsibility: (1) developing and maintaining external relations with industry; (2) mentoring students, including career counseling and supervising internships; (3) assisting the Program Manager with the admissions process and marketing the program; (4) and complying with academic reporting requirements and representing MAIS/MIMS in campus meetings. In these duties, the Program Director will work closely with the Program Manager for MAIS/MIMS, the Academic Directors (faculty), Program Assistant, student assistants, Advisory Board, and campus units such as the Dean's office and Graduate Admissions office as appropriate. The Director of Partnerships for MAIS/MIMS will consider the overall best interests of the College by working with other units to ensure the best and highest use of the College's resources. The Director of Partnerships will be responsible for delivering the types of services that will result in MAIS/MIMS graduate students experiencing a valuable and distinctive experience both inside and outside the classroom. This position is a one-year assignment to start and will be employed by HR Options, the University of San Francisco's temporary staffing service, with the possibility for long-term employment. Communicate and build professional relationships with corporate, nonprofit, government, and community partners.
Research current and future trends and companies and nonprofits in order to source new contacts.
Gain command and familiarity with the faculty expertise and industry subject matter experts.
Raise MAIS/MIMS's profile among potential employers in industry (including companies, government agencies, regulatory bodies, and academia) and develop new relationships to obtain benefits such as internship and job opportunities, guest speakers and instructors, and external funding.
Develop deep knowledge of the local international studies and migration studies communities.
Internships
Create, establish, and maintain relationships with internship organizations.
Create and maintain an internship database for graduate students, in conjunction with the internship database maintained for undergraduate students.
Provide information to internship companies and work with them to develop viable opportunities to facilitate student learning and evaluation.
Conduct site visits and telephone/video conferences with company representatives.
Provide excellent communication and service to internships organizations.
Schedule appointments for all graduate students to discuss internships and actively work with them to facilitate their needs.
Provide counsel and/or mediate to resolve difficulties when necessary in order to promote student learning and encourage their professional development.
Arrange and supervise student internships.
Direct students to job and internship opportunities as available.
Advise students on how to navigate professional situations, including advice on preparing resumes and giving presentations.
Survey internship partners to assess student performance and other quality assurance efforts, including accreditation, external reviews and related activities;
Coordinate with the MAIS/MIMS Advisory Boards to raise additional funds to support the program's students through scholarships and other opportunities, and work with University Development Office on fundraising as appropriate.
Academic/Student Support
Establish assessment tools and facilitate the assessment of the program with support of Chair and Faculty Directors.
Administer the capstone advising and capstone reading process, scheduling readers for each project and tracking the progress of capstones towards the final approval for the degree. Undertake an audit of remaining capstones (theses) annually and prepare a report to the Faculty Directors.
Conduct exit interviews with graduating students and prepare a report for department feedback.
Alumni Development
Manage alumni tracking and alumni services for the program in collaboration with the Office of Alumni Relations.
Create and maintain a database of alumni and development contacts.
Miscellaneous
Serve as a member of the University Graduate Admission Council and attend College of Arts and Sciences Graduate Program Directors meetings.
Develop priorities and action plan for the year in collaboration with the Program Manager and Faculty Directors.
Assume other responsibilities in line with this job description, as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's from an accredited university is required. A master's degree and at least four years of relevant work experience preferred, with at least two years in related fields.
Experience supporting professional or graduate educational programs preferred.
Demonstrated cultural competency and experience working with students from a diverse array of backgrounds, including experience working with international students.
Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
Strong analytical skills - the ability to identify and evaluate problems, as well as devise timely and effective solutions.
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
Strong business acumen with the ability to use and discuss business terminology from multiple sectors and apply this information in an academic setting.

Ability to work occasionally in the evenings and weekends as required for program events.
