Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in a physical or natural science from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and five years of responsible laboratory experience, one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred QualificationsA masters degree is preferred.
Job Description SummaryThe University of South Alabama’s department of Marine Sciences is seeking to hire a Research Laboratory Manager. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
Essential Functions
- Directs the daily activities of the research lab.
- Plans, coordinated, and executes research projects funded within the laboratory.
- Supervises and trains technical laboratory staff.
- Actively participates in all aspects of the research project including coordinating and participating in field work.
- Coordinates and participates in lab and data analysis.
- Prepares results and findings for reports.
- Manages laboratory budgets.
- Maintains relationships with the research project’s partners and stakeholders.
- Participates in the hiring of interns and other staff.
- Oversees project reporting.
- Coordinates and plans project meetings.
- Regular and prompt attendance.
- Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
- Related duties as required.
