Advertised Job SummaryThe University of South Carolina, Brain Health Network is looking for a Community Health Worker to work in the Florence/Darlington, South Carolina location.To be the navigator between USC School of Medicine Brain Health, providers, patients, caregivers and the community where patients reside. To provide and model exceptional customer service to patients, caregivers, providers, and staff in the clinics. To facilitate patient appointments and resources in the appropriate communities where the patient resides. Increase access and care for Brain Health recipients. To demonstrate commitment to conducting business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures and regulations.
Required Education And ExperienceRequires a bachelor’s degree and no prior work experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience.
Preferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree, or high school diploma and 4 years medical billing, front desk experience (preferably in a medical setting), or customer service experience; or equivalency. Experience working with community organizations and patient education. Prefer certification as a DHHS Community Health Worker.
Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesBachelor’s degree, or high school diploma and 4 years related experience; or equivalency. Experience working with a medical billing system is preferred. Prefer experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook programs. Must have excellent customer service skills to include exceptional oral and written communication skills. Requires excellent computer and keyboarding skills. Must be able to problem solve and think analytically. Must be able to manage multiple tasks with competing priorities. Must have valid U.S. driver’s license and auto liability insurance. Required to conduct business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures and regulations.
