Market Range: 07 Hiring Salary: $3,579.77 - $4,248.93/Monthly JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Educational Specialist Community Engagement collaborates with faculty, staff, students, and community partners to facilitate the development and implementation of co-curricular programming and service learning opportunities both online and instructor-led within the Office of Leadership and Service. This position holds the primary responsibility for sharing information with community partners, soliciting community partner involvement, developing service-learning opportunities for UTHSC students across the state of Tennessee, as well as daily operations of the on-campus food pantry, the Campus Cupboard.
Duties And Responsibilities
  • Assists in the development of educational content and products, such as workshops, symposiums, conferences, online e-learning, webinars, manuals/monographs, blended learning, and other learning methods.
  • Presents information and/or facilitates instructor-led sessions on community engagement or other topics as assigned, both in classroom settings and in co-curricular settings.
  • Provides information to students, staff, faculty, and community partners seeking information about UTHSC programs and services connected to the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP).
  • Collaborates with the Assistant Director of Leadership and Service to assist in the development and deployment of programming within the office, including community service and service-learning opportunities.
  • Contributes to materials in the social determinants of health information repository by reviewing and referring to published papers, videos, and talks on the subject.
  • Schedules subject-matter experts/speakers for ongoing clinical research sessions, workshops, and conferences. Ensures materials, supplies, and other resources are readily available.
  • Facilitates administrative aspects of community outreach programs.
  • Performs general office duties, participates in weekly group/individual staff meetings/activities, and prepares unit reports.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED) EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years related work experience in student services or community outreach; OR Master’s Degree in lieu of experience; OR a combination of related education, training, and/or experience that totals eight (8) years. Must have a valid Driver’s License. (Experience in developing materials or programming in student affairs, student services, or community outreach preferred.) Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively (both written and oral).
  • Ability to work effectively with a broad range of people including faculty, staff, students, healthcare professionals and members of the general public.
  • Strong public speaking skills, event-planning skills, and creativity in developing resources.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of cultural, social, or other diversity factors.
