The University of Tennessee Foundation, Inc (UTFI) invites applications and nominations to fill the position of Advancement Assistant II for the University of Tennessee, Martin.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Advancement Services, the Advancement Assistant II is responsible for providing administrative support for the department of advancement services.

The purpose of this position is to provide administrative support for programs that impact alumni, donors, faculty / staff, students and friends of UTM.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

Gift Acknowledgements : Draft correspondence and prepare monthly / daily gift acknowledgement letters. Assist with preparation of annual donor impact and other stewardship reports.

Prepare and allocate gift deposits on transmittal forms.

Donor Engagement : Create new donor and prospect records. Update donor database with demographic and biographic information.

Create and maintain records for UTM activities, events, and committees. Assist with planning and preparation of stewardship events.

Administration : Assist with special projects and mailings; enter and track scholarship information and updates in a database.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

The candidate who fills the Advancement Assistant II position is required to have :

  • High school diploma with 3-4 years office experience OR business / technical school graduate with 1-2 years office experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral
  • Willingness and ability to learn current and emerging advancement technologies

A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is required due to travel responsibilities of the position. UTFI reserves the right to consider all appropriate circumstances.

In general, any significant driving offense less than 12 months old will eliminate the application from consideration for the position.

Preferred Education and Experience

In addition to meeting the required qualifications, the preferred candidate will have :

  • Experience working in higher education / fundraising
  • Event / meeting coordination and planning experience
  • Knowledge of IRIS and ability to quickly learn new databases that support donor management
