The University of Tennessee Foundation, Inc (UTFI) invites applications and nominations to fill a Chattanooga-based Director of Regional Development position for the University of Tennessee, Health Science Center (UTHSC). Reporting to the Executive Director of Development, the Director of Regional Development is responsible for serving as a development professional representing all six colleges of the Health Science Center, with a considerable focus on constituents in Chattanooga and the surrounding southeastern Tennessee region. Focus will also be placed on supporting the UTHSC College of Medicine - Chattanooga campus, in partnership with its dean and leadership team .
ResponsibilitiesThe purpose of this position is to identify , cultivate, solicit , and steward resources of individual prospects in the Chattanooga area, as well as other areas of the country. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Front-Line Fundraising: Create and execute fundraising strategy to cultivate and solicit major and planned gifts from individual and institutional prospects. This role requires signification engagement with current and prospective donors, while building and managing a robust portfolio. Close collaboration with UTHSC and college leadership is essential to effectively communicate vision and priorities.
Donor Engagement: Identify and cultivate a portfolio of individual and institutional prospects through ongoing efforts. This includes making one-on-one calls, collaborating with UTHSC leaders, and the UT Foundation Advancement colleagues to engage current donors and employing strategies to attract potential donors and supporters.
Collaboration : Develop strong relationships with key constituencies within UTHSC, including the Chancellor, leadership team, college d eans, facult y , and community leaders. Partner with colleagues to engage alumni and community donors and prospects through individual meetings, small group interactions, and local/regional events.

Required Education And ExperienceThe candidate who fills the Director of Regional Development position is required to have:
  • Bachelor ’ s Degree
  • 5 years of experience in fundraising, sales, advancement, marketing/communications, or related fields
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to operate autonomously and collaborate with external constituents
Some travel is required for this position. A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is required due to travel responsibilities. UTFI reserves the right to consider all appropriate circumstances . In general, any significant driving offense less than 12 months old will eliminate the application from consideration for the position.
Note - Candidates holding a graduate degree must have at least 3 years of experience.
Preferred Education And ExperienceIn addition to meeting the required qualifications, the preferred candidate will have:
  • Master ’ s Degree
  • 8 years of experience in fundraising, sales, advancement, marketing/communications, or related fields
  • Fundraising experience in healthcare
