The University of Tennessee Southern is seeking an Instructor of Chemistry, h oused in the School of Mathematics and Sciences, the department of Chemistry is searching for a full-time instructor of Chemistry. The position’s principal responsibility is teaching and coordinating introductory labs with the prescribed course load and for, as appropriate, providing students with academic or career advising. The position is responsible, as well, for service to the School/University and, as appropriate, to the discipline and the community. Further, the position is responsible for engaging in professional development activities. The Instructor of Chemistry will contribute in measurable ways to the mission of UT Southern and fully embrace the systemwide Be One UT Values.
Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
The primary responsibility for this position includes teaching or managing laboratory duties within a 12-hour course load and providing academic or career advice to students. Key duties involve adhering to teaching guidelines, employing strategies to encourage critical thinking, engaging and motivating students, and adapting instruction to their needs. Additionally, the role requires transparent and unbiased student evaluations, incorporating current subject matter, participating in relevant seminars or workshops, and implementing innovative teaching methods. Developing courses to address new opportunities or changing student needs and supervising student research projects are also expected. An additional responsibility of the role focuses on enhancing teaching quality and student learning.
The position is responsible for serving the School/University, the discipline, and the community. Responsibilities include participating in governance committees, task forces, and ad hoc committees; fulfilling special duties requested by the administration; contributing to the profession.
The position requires demonstrating scholarly and professional competence in the subject area. This includes producing original research, scholarship, or creative works and engaging in professional development activities such as coursework, seminars, workshops, and specialized training to update knowledge, enhance teaching effectiveness, or expand expertise.

Minimum Qualifications
