University of Tennessee is Hiring a Research Technician 2-Physiology Near Memphis, TN

Market Range: 05Hiring Salary: $19.10/HourlyJOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Research Assistant performs a wide range of cell and animal experiments and manages the stocks, ordering of supplies and compliance of the laboratory with pertinent regulations. This position will focus on Cardiovascular Research in the Physiology Department at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
Duties And Responsibilities
  • Handles and manages animal colonies and genotyping mice.
  • Harvests tissues, prepares RNA/DNA samples, and performs molecular assays including PCR with mice.
  • Performs biochemical and molecular assays.
  • Creates and maintains electronic database of animal colonies; maintains comprehensive lab records and experimental data.
  • Assists graduate students and postdocs with animal experiments.
  • Maintains equipment in proper working order and clean work areas.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in one of the life sciences. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED) EXPERIENCE: OR a combination of college coursework and work experience to equal eight (8) years.
