Job Summary
Implements and oversees the College of Engineering’s (CoE) career development and success initiatives such as internships and co-ops. Works with the university Career Center, CoE Directors of Development & Alumni Relations, and CoE academic departments to promote student career development, readiness, internship, and employment opportunities.
Delivers and evaluates engineering career-related, experiential learning programs and related initiatives that cultivate and equip all engineering students to effectively lead in the workplace. Collaborates with CoE faculty/staff to develop cross-functional initiatives. Works one-on-one with students to prepare them for engineering career success. At the request of CoE departments, develops and administers career-related presentations, demonstrations, etc.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Works with CoE and university staff, assist with the development and management of relationships with DFW & national employers and CoE alumni that leads to the acquisition of internships, co-ops, and other related experiential learning opportunities for all eligible CoE students.
  • Partners with CoE departments to develop and assess discipline-specific career development programs, services, and events.
  • Develops, and assesses comprehensive, engineering-based, career mentoring programs for all CoE students.
  • Liaises with the University Office of International Education to coordinate and administer the Curricular Practical Training (CPT) Program in the CoE.
  • In consultation with CoE senior administration works with databases that track, analyze, and organize data for reports that keep CoE senior administration informed of the progress, status, and value of all CoE events, services, programs, and initiatives.
  • Collaborates with university analytics for special data projects as assigned.
  • Supports planning and implementation of career fairs and other related events such as alumni mentoring events, company tours, etc.
  • Conducts one-on-one and group career advising consultations.
  • Presents to CoE classes and events as requested by department faculty/chairs and CoE leadership.
  • Identifies and acts on opportunities to partner with CoE and other university officials to support initiatives that merge academic and career readiness.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field with two (2) years of experience managing and supporting student job readiness programs and related initiatives or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certificates and/or experience in:
    • Recruitment/hiring.
    • Higher education career services.
  • Experience with managing university/corporate relationships with emphasis on internship, co-op, and alumni, industry-based career mentoring programs.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge with PeopleSoft and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to adapt to new requirements and situations quickly.
  • Professional communication skills (oral, written and listening).
  • Professional interpersonal skills.
  • Computer and data management/analysis skills.
  • Ability to work with varied student and employee populations.
  • Working knowledge of effective student success & career development principles. Demonstrated experience leading and assessing comprehensive internship, job readiness, and career mentoring programs.
  • Working knowledge of and experience analyzing student data to formulate effective retention initiatives for underserved populations.
