Essential Functions
Job Summary
Responsible for on-court coaching, serves as community relations liaison for the basketball program to the public, and monitors the academic progress of student-athletes. Assists the head coach in providing management of the basketball program.
Core Responsibilities
  • Stays abreast of and adheres to NCAA and conference rules.
  • Monitors the satisfactory academic progress of student-athletes and helps arrange for necessary academic counseling through the athletics academic coordinator.
  • Assists the head coach with on-the-floor coaching.
  • Assists the head coach with basketball training of student-athletes.
  • Assists the head coach with the scheduling of opponents.
  • Works with the athletics administration in matters of public relations and promotions.
  • Promotes fundraising for the athletics department.
  • Supports student-athlete development programs and assures student-athlete welfare of the team by being respectful.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
  • Three (3) years of experience as a basketball student-athlete or coach.
  • Specific knowledge in the sport of men's basketball, knowledge and compliance with all NCAA, State of Texas, UTSA, and The American Athletic Conference rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment, discretion, and flexibility.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work on a variety of tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of current trends and best practices in instructional software and educational technologies.

Physical Demands:
  • Physical activity in the sport of basketball.
This position will be primarily located on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
