Job Summary

The Title IX/ADA Coordinator & Equal Opportunity Officer will be responsible for coordinating the University's efforts to comply with and carry out its responsibilities to address discrimination under TItle IX of the Education Amendment's Act of 1972, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Sections 503 & 504), the Americans with Disabilities Act (Title II) and their implementing regulations, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, and the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act of 1974. The Title IX/ADA Coordinator & Equal Opportunity Officer will oversee the University's policies and procedures for appropriate assessment and response to claims of inequitable treatment under the law. This includes coordinating institutional response to all complaints involving possible civil rights violations of the University's Sexual Misconduct Policy and Harassment and Discrimination Policy. With assistance from relevant campus partners, the Title IX/ADA Coordinator and Equal Opportunity Officer provides or facilitates ongoing TItle IX/EO/ADA training, consultation, and assistance for students, faculty, and staff, identifying and addressing patterns or systemic problems revealed by complaints or reports of misconduct, assessing effects on the campus climate, and overseeing University efforts, including the provision of interim measures, to effectively address and remedy discrimination & harassment in any program or activity of the University. Additionally, this position will serve as the ADA Coordinator, overseeing the process for requesting and implementing reasonable accommodations for employees and visitors.

Responsibilities

1-
Develop, implement, update, and serve as principal coordiantor of policies and programs related to compliance with Title IX of the Education Amendment's Act of 1972, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Rehabilitiation Act of 1973 (Sections 503 & 504), the Americans with Disabilities Act (Title II) and their implementing regulations, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act of 1974 (and other related laws and regulations) - Receive reports/complaints of civil rights related misconduct involving students, faculty, staff, and visitors, and coordinate the prompt investigation of and effective response to such reports. Assist in the facilitation of informal resolution agreements. - Develop and implment a case management plan for each reported incident of civil rights related misconduct. - Organize and maintain case files, statistical data on inquiries and complaints, disposition reports, and develop reports on complaints, investigations, and resolutions. - Obtain and record all information for annual Clery reporting.

Ensure institutional compliance with ADA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and other federal and state disability laws. Develop, implement, and review policies and procedures related to disability access and accommodations. - Oversee the process for requesting and implementing reasonable accommodations for students, employees, and visitors. Collaborate with various campus departments to ensure appropriate accommodations are provided in a timely and effective manner. - Address complaints and grievances related to disability access and accommodations. Coordinate investigations, facilitate resolutions, and ensure compliance with institutional policies and legal requirements. - Develop and implement a comprehensive management system for maintaining and organizing files related to ADA compliance, accommodations, and complaints.

Plan and implement Title IX, ADA, and Equal Opportunity training and awareness programming for students, faculty, and staff. Coordiante annual online training. Maintain documentation of training and educational programs, and provide certification as required to federal and state regulatory bodies as well as the University System of Georgia. - Arranage/conduct training of staff members responsible for any part of the complaint process (investigators, hearing panelists, advisors, etc.) - Prepare and disseminate educational materials that inform the campus community of rights and responsibilites under University policy and federal, state, and local law. - Assist with climate surveys and the Athletics Interest & Abilities Survey. - Develop and maintain campus partnerships releavnt to the scope of work such as the Office of Human Resources, University Police Department, University Ombuds Office, Athletics, Office of Community Standards, Health Services, Counseling Center, etc. Refer unrelated inquiries and reports to the appropriate campus partner.

Identify and integrate best practices by keeping current with laws, regulations, regulatory guidance, and current case law. Regularly attend continuing professional education and maintain ongoing relations with colleagues in the University System of Georgia.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree
Required Experience
At least 3 years of experience in equity, compliance, or civil rights law, or an equivalent level of education, experience, or training/certification. Knowledge of and ability to interpret federal and state laws regarding civil rights, discrimination, and harassment, Title IX, and retaliation.

Proposed Salary

$75,000 - $85,000 Annually. Paid on a Monthly Basis.
