Job Summary:

Who we are as a program:
The New to Public Health (N2PH) Residency Program (https://new2publichealth.wisc.edu/) is a year-long workforce development program for early career public health professionals to gain confidence and competence in the field of public health. Residents of the program complete an online learning course, meet for monthly synchronous discussions, complete an evidence-based project, and are matched with a mentor.
Who we are looking for on our team:
The School of Nursing is seeking an enthusiastic public health professional who is eager to contribute to and help grow the N2PH Residency Program, support early career public health professionals, and implement creative ideas. The N2PH Residency Program Specialist, along with other team members, is responsible for developing and updating content for the online learning course, facilitating cohorts, engaging with partners to support program expansion, and collaborating on evaluation initiatives for ongoing improvement. Our highest priority is to ensure residents and partners of the program have a positive experience and are well supported. Responsibilities:

Provides guidance on the planning, design, and development of new professional level credit and non-credit courses and facilitates cross-departmental communication in support of the establishment of new continuing education programs.
  • 25% Researches and selects curriculum content, assists with the development of course specific materials and resources, and prepares assessment tools regarding specific programs to align with unit objectives and strategy
  • 25% Disseminates course updates and newly created content with program stakeholders, solicits feedback, and alters curriculum if appropriate
  • 25% Serves as an initial point of contact and facilitates cross-unit communication with colleagues and accreditation resources to obtain relevant and accurate information for the program
  • 10% Directs operational logistics of specialized programming segments and communication materials under general supervision
  • 15% Promotes, supports, and expands reach of the New to Public Health (N2PH) Residency Program (https://new2publichealth.wisc.edu/) in collaboration with the project team.

Tasks:

  • Co-facilitate N2PH Residency Program cohorts in collaboration with project team including orientation and ongoing engagement with residents, mentors, and organizational leaders
  • Develop new and revised content for the N2PH Residency Program online learning course, discussions, and webinar and conference presentations using a continuous evidence-based quality improvement approach in accordance with accreditation standards
  • Engages with new and established partners, program participants, and organizational leaders to facilitate program expansion
  • Assist with program communication, outreach and marketing efforts including but not limited to social media, website content, manuscript, conference presentation, and other dissemination activities in collaboration with project team
  • Collaborate with project team on planning and conducting program evaluation for continuous improvement and growth
  • Assist the program manager as directed

Qualifications:

Required:
-Professional experience in various Foundational Public Health Services areas and capabilities from a governmental public health organization (i.e.: health educator, nurse, public health specialist, social worker, etc.)
The successful candidate will meet the qualifications, possess skills in developing and conducting public health professional education programs, communicate well (orally and in writing), have organizational and analytical skills, and have a strong appreciation for nurse residency programs, public health practice, and program evaluation.
Preferred:
-Experience facilitating groups or leading a community of practice
-Experience developing curriculum or/and online learning content or courses for adult learners using e-learning technologies
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to provide accurate, timely, and professional responses to internal and external customers
-Excellent problem-solving and independent decision-making skills
- Demonstrated success collaborating with and building partnerships among colleagues, subject matter experts, and partners with different identities, backgrounds, and geographical areas
- Experience with project management and operational tools for tracking collaboration efforts to effectively organize work for multiple simultaneous projects
-Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES)
-Proficiency in learning technologies, including presentation software and virtual facilitation tools (e.g., MS Office Suite, Zoom, MS Teams)

Work Type:

Full Time: 100%
This position requires most work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. The person in this position may request and be considered for a formal remote work agreement based on guidelines set forth by the School of Nursing, and/or may be provided with remote work flexibility as needed and approved by the supervisor.

Appointment Type, Duration:

Terminal, 24 month appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding

Salary:

Minimum $45,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications
The expected salary range for this position is $55,000-65,000 for highly experienced candidates. Actual pay will depend on experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, the employee in this position can expect to receive benefits such as generous vacation, holidays, and other paid time off, competitive insurances and savings accounts, and employer sponsored retirement benefits.

Initial appointment will be for a fixed-term of 2 years. This position has the possibility to be converted to a renewable appointment based on funding availability and/or program need.
A criminal background check will be conducted prior to hiring.
Occasional overnight travel required approximately 2-3 times a year.
