University of Wisconsin–Madison is Hiring a Regional Community Health Coordinator Near Altoona, IA

Job Summary:The Health & Well-Being Institute (https://extension.wisc.edu/health/) in the Division of Extension is hiring a Regional Community Health Coordinator in the Northwest Region of Wisconsin as part of a new initiative to extend the support and capacity of our network of community-based educators and specialists. The Regional Community Health Coordinator will support community engagement processes, assessment activities, and data-informed action planning to advance community health and well-being. Training, technical assistance, and capacity building will take multiple forms, including in-person and 1:1 consultations, facilitated discussions, webinars, and resource and tool development. The Extension Regional Community Health Coordinator will facilitate linkages between local governments, community-based organizations, local Extension staff, and UW-Madison campus-based staff and partners to leverage resources and applied research expertise in response to community health priorities.
The topical focus of the position will be responsive to community-identified interests in health and well-being across a range of settings that influence health. Issue areas of interest may include but are not limited to, school-based health, food and nutrition security, mental health, substance misuse prevention and recovery, adolescent well-being, social and community conditions, and policy, systems, and environmental change approaches to promote health and well-being.

Responsibilities: Improves well-being of the campus community by engaging with community and campus stakeholders and using population-level data to prioritize, design, implement, and evaluate strategies to achieve measurable health improvements by creating health-supporting systems, policies, and environments.
  • 20% Gathers and evaluates population-level health data and engages with stakeholders to discern needs and interests and build capacity for population-level health improvement
  • 20% Applies evidence-based theories, frameworks, and assessments according to current health research and practice
  • 10% Develops, implements, organizes, and evaluates population-health initiatives based on sound data, theory, and evidence
  • 40% Provides consultation, training, and capacity-building resources for stakeholders to advance a health-promoting setting with respect to policies, learning and working environments, physical spaces, services and support, student development, and/or opportunities for social connectedness
  • 10% Identifies, promotes, and maintains external partnerships to support the outreach program

Qualifications:Required:
  • Three or more years of professional experience relevant to the programmatic responsibilities of the position
  • Demonstrated skills in interpreting, utilizing, and applying evidence-based information and research findings in support of community health issues
  • Ability to communicate effectively using a variety of methods and technologies
  • Experience working cooperatively with diverse organizations and sectors such as local, state, and Tribal governments, community-based organizations, higher education, private entities, etc.
  • Knowledge and skills to effectively interact with people from different cultural backgrounds, including those associated with race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, socioeconomic status, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, and other aspects of human diversity
Preferred:
  • Previous experience developing, delivering, and evaluating training, technical assistance and capacity building for diverse audiences utilizing a variety of educational techniques, methods, and modes
  • Ability to think creatively, identify root causes and systems of influence, and synthesize inter-disciplinary approaches to conceptualizing and addressing health equity work

Salary:Minimum $60,000 ANNUAL (12 months)

Areas served & position location:
The Regional Community Health Coordinator will serve a multi-county geography in Northwest Wisconsin.
This position offers partial remote work based in Wisconsin. It may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location, or at a remote, offsite, non-campus work location.
The position location is flexible and will be determined based on programmatic needs and the availability of suitable office space. Regular travel within Wisconsin is expected.
It is expected that employees will make individual arrangements for transportation adequate to meet position responsibilities and essential job functions.
