JOB TITLE :

Upward Bound North Central Wyoming Coordinator - SEO

JOB PURPOSE :

The office location for this position is in Casper, WY at UW-Casper. The position will serve students at selected high schools in Big Horn, Johnson and Natrona Counties.

Under limited supervision, this position provides services to first generation and low-income high school students and their families to ensure academic success in high school and successful application to and graduation from college.

The coordinator will design and implement academic, career, personal, college access, college retention and graduation, and financial aid and financial / economic literacy advising and programming.

This position provides services under the federally-funded, Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math / Science TRIO programs.

Please note : Temporary relocation to the University of Wyoming in Laramie, WY for seven weeks during June and July to participate in coordinating and implementing a residential summer academic program for participants is required.

Housing and food costs are covered.

This position is grant funded and considered at-will employment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Independently recruit eligible and suitable first generation / low-income high school students for participation in this college preparatory program.
  • Develop and maintain positive, productive relationships with schools through teachers, administrators, and counselors as well as with community agencies and state and federal agency staff serving low-income clients.
  • Design and provide grade-appropriate, individualized services and undertake group workshops and enrichments for eligible participants.
  • Collect, verify, and document extensive participant data and educational outcomes, including accurate data entry and organized participant file management.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records as well as strict compliance with federal legislation and regulations, OMB directives, and UW and SEO policies and procedures.
  • Undertake small-scale and large-scale event planning and implementation and advertise program services and successes to the public.
  • Engage in planning and execution of Upward Bound’s six-week summer program and manage administrative, oversight, supervisory, and instructional duties for participants during the summer program which will require working additional evening and weekend hours in June and July.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS :

  • Travel by personal vehicle, in all seasons, within your service area to recruit and provide services to participants. Applicants are required to have access to a safe and reliable personal vehicle and will be reimbursed mileage for official travel to selected high schools in Big Horn, Johnson, and Natrona Counties.
  • Provide training to program and activity support staff and supervise hourly staff.
  • Serve on committees and represent the project at meetings and events.
  • Work effectively under distance supervision.
  • After-school and some evening and weekend hours required to provide effective services during the academic year and more regularly during the summer residential program taking place in Laramie, WY.
  • Plan and administer specific initiatives and take on other duties as required.
  • In- and out-of-state overnight travel to professional conferences and trainings.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY :

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Education : Bachelor’s degree

Experience : 2 years work-related experience

Required licensure, certification, registration or other requirements :

  • Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) that is compliant with the .
  • Must be able to pass a background check in accordance with UW's Background Check Policy in order to work with minors.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Ability to recruit eligible and suitable participants for program participation and to build and maintain positive and productive relationships with students, parents, and school staff.
  • Experience designing, preparing, and delivering educational workshops and course curriculum.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Familiarity or experience working with federal educational grants under accountability standards.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and to foster a pleasant and cooperative work environment.
  • Experience planning, organizing, and implementing both small-scale and large-scale events.
  • Proven ability to motivate students to undertake actions and activities that promote their academic and personal success.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office programs and comfortable learning new software.
