University Texas Southwestern Medical Center is Hiring an Assistant Director Revenue Cycle - Cash Management Near Dallas, TX

JOB SUMMARY:

UT Southwestern Medical Center is the preeminent medical and academic healthcare facility in North Texas. We are looking for a candidate to fill the role of Assistant Director-Cash Management in the Revenue Cycle Department team. The duties for the successful candidate shall include but not be limited to the following:

  • Manage all processes around payment posting, reconciliation, credit balances, and refunds for both hospital and professional services with EPIC
  • Assist with the creation and updates of Standard Operating Procedures for the department.
  • Direct reports include the Manager, Revenue Cycle Management; Manager, Revenue Cycle Cash Management Credits; QA Coordinator.
  • Support the deployment of EPIC upgrades, automation opportunities, and other workflow changes as required
  • Design and support employee engagement activities for all team members.
  • Identifying and communicating timely across teams technical issues and educational opportunities that impact cash management departments.
  • Works collaboratively with Revenue Cycle AVP and Directors to reduce payment and denial errors and reduce outstanding credits and undistributed amounts, while reconciling and continuously improve revenue cycle operations.

Shift: 8-hour days flex shift, starting between 0700-0800

WFH: The candidate can work from home or hybrid WFH and office. However, applicant just live in Texas.

EXPERIENCEREQUIRED:
  • Bachelor's in Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field is required.
  • A Master's in Business or Healthcare is preferred.
  • Six (6) years of relevant business experience in Billing, Revenue Cycle and Management is required.
  • May consider additional years of experience in lieu of education.
JOB DUTIES:
  • Oversee and streamline revenue cycle cash management and credit follow up workflows and processes.
  • Develop policies and procedures and update them to the industry standards for cash management, payment posting, credit management. Monitor work queue aging and manage to meet Revenue Cycle guidelines.
  • Monitor cash management and credit resolution and determine corrective action plans.
  • Supervise managers to ensure appropriate management and oversite of staff on a daily basis. Role include hiring, engagement, retention, schedule, monitoring productivity standards, departmental training, approving time off, processing payroll, performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, and exit paperwork.
  • Assist the accounting department by approving all departmental bills for accounts payable and keep comprehensive records.
  • Review payment posting and credits on a regular basis to ensure accountability and follow-up.
  • Work collaboratively with Director and Assistant Directors to establish and implement appropriate procedures. Work with other departments as needed for correspondence workflow implementations.
  • Review and post weekly metrics for supervised staff to determine when operational goals are met.
  • Communicate with leadership any trends/issues identified. Collaborate with other management to escalate issues accordingly.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining data collection and issue reporting including but not limited to routine and special requests for department, management, administration and corporate offices within required timeframes.
  • Serve as a resource to peers, staff and others, team leader, trainer as required, provides education, develops step actions, standards of performance and monitors and reinforces.
  • Direct, monitor, assign, and evaluate workflows and processes in assigned areas. Work with other departments to ensure seamless process flow, and offer suggestions when a work flow needs to be corrected or changed.
  • Assist in developing the Revenue Cycle Departments budget and provides fiscal direction to the unit.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Strong leadership skills with an ability to motivate direct reports

  • Resource management skills, including the ability to effectively oversee time, finances, materials/facilities, and personnel.
  • Deep knowledge of all facets of revenue cycle management and related compliance requirements, solid experience in analyzing and responding to financial and operational data, clear and compelling educator, detailed understanding of EPIC, excellent working knowledge of revenue cycle management tools and resources
  • Knowledge of appropriate billing and payment cycles
  • Thorough understanding of healthcare reimbursement and denial management processes
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of clinical appeals
  • Knowledge of healthcare industry financial trends, regulations, and policies, particularly those pertaining to billing and insurance
  • Functional knowledge of CPT codes and ICD-10 Excellent research, analytical, and modeling skills Knowledge of HIPAA and patient confidentiality regulations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy;
  • Effectively able to take initiative, multi-task competing priorities and remain focused/organized in a fast paced environment with limited supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Knowledge of cost estimating, budgeting and fiscal management principles and procedures.
  • Extremely proficient at Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Ability to make evaluative judgments.
