The Office of Graduate, Professional, and Online Programsin The Grainger College of Engineering seeks applicants for a Coordinator of Instructional Design and Video Production position. This position provides support to the Executive Director and Assistant Director of Online Programs and Initiatives in The Grainger College of Engineering by administering the Grainger Engineering online instructional design and video production operations and logistics. Oversees and manages the video staff supporting online degree programs in the Office of Online and Professional Engineering Programs (O2PEP). Supports innovative pedagogical models that integrate online learning into online and professional courses.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with coordination and management of Studios A, B, & C course recordings, as well as all other video, audio, and post-production requests. Schedule, coordinate, and manage all Zoom and MS Teams web conferences in Studios A, B, and C. Direct in-studio video productions, including the building of sets, lighting, and selection of various video/audio inputs. Organize, publish, and store all video content to Media Space and other cloud sources.
  • Support faculty and instructors in use of learning management systems (LMS) and video for online and professional development courses.

o Collaborates with subject experts to develop course content

o Edits and develops course modules and online learning materials

o Designs learning activities, assignments, and assessments

o Develops instructor’s manuals, rubrics, and other teaching tools

o Analyzes, updates, and refines existing online content

o Keeps current on best practices in instructional design

o Writes scripts for video and audio content

  • Provide support for teaching and learning technology. Assist with troubleshooting, diagnosis, repair, and updates of all recording equipment and software for Studios A, B, & C
  • Oversee the Creative Specialist in Broadcasting and other academic hourly and/or graduate student video support staff.
  • Ensure implementation of University and Grainger College of Engineering policies and procedures, including related to accessibility and fair use. Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in instructional design, education, educational technology and communications, or related field.
    • Three years of experience in instructional design or related areas.
    • Demonstrated experience with learning management systems (LMS).
    • Demonstrated experience with video production equipment, including cameras, microphones, video switchers, audio mixers, and editing software.
    • Demonstrated experience with software and multi-media production techniques for publication of video files to various media formats.


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Five years of experience in instructional design or related areas
      • Experience within a University setting


      Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

      • Knowledge of instructional theory, including assessment
        • General knowledge and understanding of web conferencing
        • Self-starter, detail-oriented problem solver, ability to work accurately, thoroughly, and independently under minimal supervision
        • Excellent project management and strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills

        APPOINTMENT INFORMATION

        This is a full-time Civil Service Program Coordinator position appointed on a 12-month service basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the closing date. The minimum salary is $58,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Work authorization is not available for this position.
