Overview:
As the Correctional Facility Coding Education Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in managing and facilitating coding education programs within our correctional facility. This multifaceted position involves overseeing the coding classroom, conducting pre and post career readiness training, and establishing collaborative relationships with workforce development boards. We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual who is passionate about providing incarcerated individuals with the skills and resources necessary for successful reintegration into the workforce.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the coding education classroom within the correctional facility.
- Oversee the teaching assistants implementation of the coding curriculum, ensuring alignment with industry standards and best practices on the outside.
- Provide guidance and resources to incarcerated individuals participating in the coding program.
- Coordinate volunteers and support delivering pre-career readiness training programs, equipping participants with essential skills for entering the workforce which includes resume building, interview preparation, and professional communication.
- Offer ongoing support for individuals completing the coding program, including coordinating assistants with job searches, application processes, and interview follow-ups up to 1 year post release.
- Collaborate with local workforce development boards and employers to identify job opportunities for program graduates.
- Establish and maintain strong partnerships with workforce development boards to align coding education programs with industry needs.
- Collaborate on the development of training programs that meet the requirements of local employers and the broader job market.
- Implement systems to track the progress and success of participants in coding education and career readiness training.
- Generate regular reports for internal and external stakeholders, showcasing program outcomes and success stories.
Qualifications:
- Preference for those with education in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Education, or Social Work) or three years of related work experience in economic development / job readiness.
- Strong understanding of workforce development principles and practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a correctional facility setting with sensitivity and professionalism.
- Commitment to the rehabilitation and successful reintegration of incarcerated individuals.
- Must have access to transportation and comfortable being based around either Jefferson City, Columbia, Potosi or St. Louis.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
