The position duties include laboratory work and field work with wild snakes, frogs, and fishes. Laboratory work includes examinations and dissections of fluid-preserved museum specimens as well as parasite preparation and fixation. Field work includes capture and collection of wild snakes, frogs, and fishes in the Gila Mountains for the collection of tissue samples and whole-body specimens. Field work also includes specimen preparation and fixation of snakes, frogs, and fishes.
