The University of New Mexico College of Education and Human Sciences, Department of Individual Family and Community Education, invites applications for a Lecturer II/III in Counselor Education for the 2023-24 academic year. The position may commence as early as August 2023 but shall remain open until filled.
The UNM College of Education and Human Sciences is comprised of five academic departments, is a future-oriented, dynamic professional school organized to reflect the following values: Advocacy, Building Professional Identities, Collaboration, Building School/University Partnerships, Diversity and Social Justice, Interdisciplinary Inquiry/Scholarship, and Teaching, Learning and Leadership.
The Counselor Education Program within the College of Education and Human Sciences at the University of New Mexico offers both master’s and doctoral degrees that are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). The master’s degree requires a minimum of 60 semester credit hours and is offered in clinical mental health counseling and school counseling areas of focus. Completion of the degree meets the preparatory standards for eligibility in New Mexico as either a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) or a certified school counselor.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in counselor education at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, supervise the Manzanita clinic, and provide advisement to graduate students. In addition to other professional services, the candidate will participate in admissions and assessments/evaluations and contribute to overall program development. The successful candidate will have completed all requirements for the Ph.D. (or ABD for Lecturer II) in CACREP-accredited Counselor Education by August 14, 2023.
