Upham's Community Care is Hiring a Maintenance Technician Near Boston, MA
Duties & Responsibilities
- Survey buildings and repair mechanical systems to ensure they are consistent with health and safety regulations.
- Inspect buildings’ structures to determine the need for repairs or renovations.
- Support the setup of ventilation, refrigeration and other systems and conduct repairs when necessary.
- Maintain heating and plumbing systems to ensure functionality.
- Undertake activities of pest control such as spraying insecticide.
- Timely and comprehensive processing of maintenance ticket requests; provide feedback and communication of issues encountered that prevent completion.
- Plan and coordinate all facilities-related installations (heat, electricity etc.) and refurbishments.
- Repairing of building fixtures (doors, windows, ceiling, etc.); some light plumbing and electrical repair.
- Repair of building furnishings (furniture).
- Securely open and close buildings as needed, following protocols.
- Take care of painting and plastering.
- Respond quickly in the event of an emergency, notify appropriate personnel and follow safety protocols.
- Inspect alarm systems such as carbon dioxide and fire protection and quickly schedule repairs when needed.
- Keep track of records and schedules for changing filters, HVAC check and season preparation, building certificate, etc.
- Safely drive between eight buildings and transport supplies and equipment.
- Proven experience as Maintenance Technician or relevant position (5 plus years is preferred).
- High school diploma (or GED) or associate degree.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Good analytical/critical thinking.
- Demonstrates initiative and proactive problems solving skills.
- Certified and experienced electrician and/or plumber preferred, but not required.
- Current Massachusetts’s driver’s license.
- Ability to act independently and safely, according to procedure.
- Work inside and outside, spending most of your day “on your feet.”
- Must endure physical labor work, such as physically capable of lifting at least 50 pounds, standing, reaching, climbing, walking, etc.
- Excellent manual dexterity.
- Experience in operating a variety of equipment, including snow blowers, lawn mowers, and small hand tools.
- Working knowledge of tools, common appliances, and/or devices; plus carefully following the directions/instructions.
- Follow manufacturer’s instructions and Material Safety Data Sheets on all products and materials used
- Proactively take ownership of projects assigned by the Facilities Manager and partner with management on improving facilities and services.
- Exercises sound judgment and demonstrates independence and initiative.
