University of Pittsburgh Physicians is hiring a full-time Physician Assistant or Acute Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner to support the Hospitalist department at UPMC Mercy. This is a dynamic, diverse, growing service with opportunities to lead, be part of medical education/teaching environment. Opportunity to earn yearly clinical incentive based on contributions to team performance on patient value goals. The primary responsibility is rounding in the hospital. The schedule is 7 days on 7 days off. The hours are 8:00am-6:00pm on days and 7:00pm-7:00am on nights. This role will be approximately 80% day shifts.

Purpose:
The Hospitalist Staff Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner and a member of the care delivery team. The Hospitalist Staff APP is responsible to set the standards for the level and quality of care. The Hospitalist Staff APP has responsibility, authority and accountability for the provision of care through supervision by and collaboration with a physician. The Hospitalist Staff APP manages and provides patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, communication and collaboration with all team members. The role of the Hospitalist Staff APP encompasses the beginnings of leadership, partnership, collaboration and supervision. The Hospitalist Staff APP establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care providers, patients and their families, to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care. The Hospitalist Staff APP begins to demonstrate a commitment to the community and to their healthcare profession. The successful candidate will be placed according to years and months of experience for employment purposes.
