Position: 1.0 Middle School Teacher (Grades 5-6)- Contract
Anticipated Dates of Assignment: 2024-2025 School Year (start date: August 2024)
Position Description SummaryTo facilitate students learning the designated subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible individuals; motivate and establish effective rapport with students; establish good relationships with parents and colleagues.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Teach district-approved curriculum.
- Plan a program of study and develop lesson plans and instructional material that is developmentally appropriate, as well as meet the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media.
- Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior, maintain discipline and utilize appropriate classroom management techniques.
- Evaluate students' academic and social growth, seeking the assistance of district specialists, as required.
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, school counselors and administrators regarding student issues.
- Cooperate and collaborate with other staff members.
- Participate in the development and implementation of IEPs.
- Follow district policy, guidelines, regulations and procedures, as well as, maintain confidentiality according to law and policy.
- Bachelor's degree and valid teaching certificate in identified content area.
- Experience in teaching grades 5 and 6 preferred.
- Excellent teaching and classroom management skills.
- Successfully establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, administration and parents.
- Effective oral and written communication.
- PA teaching certificate - (Elementary K-6 and/or Grades 4-8)
