The Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, the leading champion of empowerment and opportunity for African Americans and others throughout the region in securing economic self-reliance, social equality, and civil rights, is seeking a highly motivated individual with a passion for helping others to join our Patch Outreach Center as a Center Assistant.

The Assistant will:

• Assist the program manager with food pantry operations
• Distribute commodity food boxes
• Ensure compliance with the recertification process to meet contractual requirements
• Complete assessment packets on new program participants
• Complete re-assessment packets on senior participants as required
• Answer phone calls, enter data entry, and provide administrative support
• Receive, order, and stock supplies
• Practice safe and sanitary techniques while handling and serving meals
• Assist Program Manager with planning and organizing day outings and activities for seniors
• Recruit community members to attend the program activities
• Perform other duties as assigned

The ideal candidate must have:

• Excellent customer service skills
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• A valid driver's license and the ability to travel within the metropolitan area
• Lift up to 10 lbs. or more by hand or with assistance
