Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis is Hiring a Public Safety Cohort Member Near St. Louis, MO

The Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, the leading champion of empowerment and opportunity for African Americans and others throughout the region in securing economic self-reliance, social equality, and civil rights, is seeking a highly motivated community-focused individual to work as a Public Safety Cohort Member for our Serving Our Streets Program within the Public Safety Division. This is a temporary position.

As a Division of Public Safety Cohort Member, you will report directly to the Vice President of Public Safety and play a crucial role in supporting various programs, such as Urban Opioid Triage, Family Resource Enrollment, and the Gun Violence De-Escalation Network.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the coordination and logistical support of public safety programs, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate program integration and enhance effectiveness.
  • Conduct field operations including material transportation and setup for community events.
  • Engage directly with community members during outreach programs, providing support and gathering feedback.
  • Manage resources and equipment necessary for outreach activities, including preparation and transportation.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations during all community interactions and events.

The ideal candidate must have:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective community interaction and team collaboration.
  • Demonstrate tact and discretion in preparing, disclosing, and handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to lift at least 40 pounds as required for event setup and material handling.
  • Valid Missouri driver's license, insurance, and a good driving record
  • Dependable and reliable transportation
