URBAN YOUTH IMPACT - AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM COUNSELOR

Key Role : Work diligently to ensure the youth under your direct care are making progress as we seek to move towards the vision and mission of Urban Youth Impact.

Key Responsibilities : The factors that define and truly differentiate this position from all other positions :

Oversight of the classroom / students within The Leadership Academy (TLA)

• Lead a variety of creative arts and sciences lessons every day that ensure the integration of biblical curriculum as well as other CREATE and program related elements
• Lead students in engaging and discipleship related activities
• Develop and implement age appropriate literacy centers and activities inside the classroom
• Participate in all engaging elements of TLA program including chants, rallies, competitions, etc.
• Ensure the safety of their students
• Have ability to appropriately manage student behavior and discipline
• Assist students with homework
• Maintain contact with families regarding student's needs and progress
• Ensure classroom is kept orderly and clean on a daily basis
• Properly utilize the handbook (s) and discipline policies
• Ensure volunteers in their care are utilized properly
• Ensure all duties are completed on time
• Maintain attendance and performance records; submit data on Salesforce on time daily
• Attend program related meetings / conferences / workshops
• Assist with administrative, programmatic and transportation duties as needed

• Qualifications; 2-year degree or equivalent experience with youth; reports to TLA Program Manager; part-time hourly; 25-hr weekly;

FLSA nonexempt; 10-month. applicant needs to have an understanding that UYI is primarily a faith-based organization.
