Lab Tech conducts laboratory tests and analyses required for the testing of wastewater to assure compliance with IEPA, USEPA and Clean Water Act requirements. A Bachelor's Degree in chemistry, biology, or other environmental sciences is strongly preferred. An Associate's Degree in chemistry, biology, or other environmental sciences plus a minimum of three years of progressive relevant experience in wastewater facilities or an analytical testing facility may be considered.

This position performs a variety of duties including:

• Conducting chemical and microbiological tests according to protocols and procedures,
• Operating, calibrating, and maintaining a variety of laboratory equipment including spectrophotometer, dissolved oxygen meters, pH meters, and wastewater samplers,
• Responding to call-ins during storms or other events to collect required samples.

This position requires a safe driving record and the ability to be covered by District vehicle insurance. Both require the ability to climb ladders and stairs, to walk around the plants in all weather conditions, and sufficient visual and auditory acuity to communicate with others and respond to alarms or warnings.
