Urology Austin is Hiring a Laboratory Technician Near Austin, TX
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Microbiology experience required
- Experience of reading Urine culture plates required
- handling, preservation or fixation, processing or preparation, and transportation and storage of specimens
- performing preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting on laboratory equipment
- maintaining current knowledge of reagent stability and storage
- proper handling of reagents and associated safety protocols
- assisting in the performance of quality control procedures
- assisting in the preparation of slides to be read by staff pathologists.
- Maintaining a clean work environment.
- Adhering to all laboratory SOPs relating to personal safety & chemical hygiene
Safety: Some risk of exposure to chemicals, biological substances, sharps and/or scientific instruments capable of causing bodily injury if used improperly. We comply with OSHA standards regarding Bloodborne pathogens, Safety Needle Act, Chemical Hygiene Plan in addition to maintaining robust safety & training programs.
Physical Demands: This position will require extensive use of a computer (mousing, keyboarding) and may involve extended periods of sitting and/or standing, and moderate use of stairs.
