Duties

As a DIRECTOR OF INSPECTIONS, GS-1801-12, you will plan, organize, resource and direct the execution of a wide range of complex inspection activities for the wing Commander's Inspection Program (CCIP). Apply an extensive knowledge of installation operations and DoD, DAF and G-MAJCOM Guidance to direct complex strategic planning and exercise efforts. Responsible for organizing and analyzing data from inspections and exercises across the DoD with the goal of identifying and communicating trends. Ocersee and manage the WIT conducting inspection and exercise activities. Serve as a qualified complaint resolution represntative prociding adcisory services to individuals, other staff offices, managers, supervisors and employees concerning the IG program and processess.

TEMPORARY PROMOTION/REASSIGNMENT: Currently employed permanent technician selected will occupy this position as a Promotion not to exceed or Reassignment as appropriate in their present status.
INDEFINITE: Indefinite employment status pertains to applicant nominated, who are not a currently employed permanent technician. Indefinite appointments may acquire permanent status depending upon future force structure requirements; indefinite appointments do not serve a trial period. Indefinite appointments may be separated when their services are no longer needed or when funding is no longer available via a 30-day termination notice.

*NOTE: IAW AF guidance, incumbent must complete the wing Inspector General Training Course Inspections (IGTC-I) within 180 days of appointment; must complete Inspector General Training Course Complaints Resolution (IGTC-Q) within 180 days of appointment; and IG appointees for nuclear-capable units will complete the USAF Nuclear Inspector Course within 180 days of assignment. Successful completion of other courses will be accomplished IAW applicable DoD, AF, and National Guard Bureau regulations. Recommend completion of the NGB/IG Advanced Course within one year of appointment.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience in working with pertinent laws, regulations, policies, and precedents which affect the use of the Inspector General Programs; applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of operations; working various command entities involved in overall planning and execution of operations, inspections, and evaluations; plans and programs that require analysis of interrelated issues of effectiveness, efficiency, productivity, and developing recommendations to resolve issues and problems; applying knowledge of organizational operations to affect the adequacy of complex systems, programs, and strategic planning efforts and identifying criteria to measure and/or predict the execution of program or organizational goals and objectives.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Application must indicate 36 months experience in interpreting, developing, and implementing Air Force inspection policy and wing-level long-range strategic plans; providing direction and oversight of internal and external inspections, audits, evaluations, reviews, exercises; and analyze results to determine unit effectiveness and efficiency. Experience in supervising, planning, and scheduling work in a manner that promotes a smooth flow and even distribution; balancing workload and provide advice, guidance, and direction on a wide range of policy, investigative, inspection/exercise, strategic planning, and administrative issues. Experience structuring assignments to create effective and economical positions. Experience assessing and revising policies and procedures as needed to find ways to improve quality, timeliness, and work efficiencies.
QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled.
