Duties

As a Custodial Worker WG-3566-2, your typical work assignments may include the following:

  • Performs comprehensive cleaning of classrooms, education laboratories, computer rooms, offices, hallways, dormitory/residential, and restroom facilities, etc.
  • Cleans and sanitizes restrooms and replenishes supplies, cleans spills, cleans drinking fountains, mirrors, tables, walls, fixtures, blinds, light fixtures, etc.
  • Empties trash cans and relines cans with liners.
  • Sweeps, mops, steam cleans, waxes, polishes, and buffs floors.
  • Vacuums and shampoos carpets and rugs.
  • Cleans and dusts furniture, woodwork etc.
  • Washes walls and partitions, venetian blinds and windows.
  • Keeps all buildings, parking lots, and surrounding areas clean of all debris and litter.
  • Ensures that appropriate and necessary levels of inventory are on hand at assigned areas, orders necessary supplies and materials, and maintains accurate records of received and distributed items.

Qualifications

Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualifications. For this position, the job element method is used to match what the applicant can do against what the work calls for. The knowledge, skills, and abilities of applicants are compared with the knowledge, skills, and abilities (called job elements) needed for success. If applicants have the ability to do the work, they are considered eligible for the job. Applicants who appear to meet the prescribed Screen-out element are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated from consideration. While a specific length of training and/or experience is not required, applicant responses to the questionnaire must be supported by detailed resume work history information.
