Duties

CG-04:

  • Provides assistance in the research and preparation of a variety of documents, and presentations.
  • Uses a variety of automated information systems to collect and analyze data for reporting purposes.
  • Analyzes financial information and develops reports as required to support the administrative and operational areas, and insures the maintenance of an effective accounting system and related internal controls.
  • Prepares reports and other documents for supervisor’s approval concerning a variety of issues and accounting matters as assigned.
  • Prepares entries to update various historical accounting ledgers, reports and master files reflecting activity within the unit. Assists with the updating of all asset records and maintains reconciliations of those records with asset servicers' systems.
  • Participates in financial institution closings, performing a variety of general functions to provide support to the closing.

CG-05:

  • Presents research findings to department staff and management.
  • Prepares reports and other documents for supervisor’s approval concerning a variety of issues and accounting matters as assigned.
  • Prepares entries to update various historical accounting ledgers, reports and master files reflecting activity within the unit. Assists with the updating of all asset records and maintains reconciliations of those records with asset servicers' systems.
  • Participates in financial institution closings, performing a variety of general functions to provide support to the closing.

After successful completion of the FDIC Pathways Internship program requirements and based on FDIC’s needs, the selectees may be non-competitively converted to a Term or Permanent position based upon an evaluation of performance, completion of at least 640 hours of work experience acquired through the Internship Program. This internship position may confer conversion eligibility to the position of Accountant, CG-0510-7/9/11 (FPL 12). However, service in the FDIC Pathways Internship Program confers no right to further employment in the competitive or excepted service.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. To qualify at the CG-04 level:

You must have completed 2 full academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree.

OR

Have 1 year of general work experience.

OR

Have a combination of both education and general work experience.

To qualify at the CG-05 level:

You must have completed 4 academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree.

OR

Have 1 year of specialized experience. Specialized Experience is experience reviewing and analyzing financial data to generate management and financial reports.

OR

Have a combination of both education and specialized experience.

Selectee(s) for this position will be required to report to their duty station office at least 1 day per pay period beginning January 2, 2024, and at their supervisor’s direction to support mission and project needs. In person reporting requirements are expected to increase in July 2024.

To be eligible for conversion to the competitive service, you must complete 640 hours of work experience (up to 320 hours may be waived based on successful performance in the position and a 2.5 overall GPA); meet the OPM qualification standards for the target position; and meet the requirements of the FDIC Pathways Internship Agreement. Service in the Pathways Internship Program confers no right to further employment.

The range of pay shown includes base pay plus supplemental locality adjustments. The locality rates for these duty locations range from a low of 26.91% to a high of 33.41%. Interns will be offered a salary at the base pay for the grade in which they are qualified and selected.
