DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA COURTS is Hiring a Financial Services Specialist (Travel and Training) Near Washington, DC

Summary This position is located within the Financial Operations Branch of the Budget and Finance Division. The Budget and Finance Division is responsible for all financial aspects of the District of Columbia Courts and the duties of the Fiscal Officer outlined in Title 11, Section 1723(a)(2) of the D.C. Code. Responsibilities BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Develops and implements the automated processes and procedures used to record and monitor the status and payment of travel claims made under the Courts' travel programs. Trains employees on automated and manual processes related to the Travel and Training programs and system. Implements operating methods to ensure compliance with the D.C. Courts and Federal policies in committing funds for obligations and disbursements. Performs special reviews and analyses and prepares special reports relating to the Travel and Training program expenditures. Investigates and resolves travel and training areas of discrepancies related to payment request and support. Manages the Travel and Training budget. Develops and implements internal controls to ensure the proper reporting of expenditures as well as safeguard assets and official documents. Creates formal reports and presentations using graphs, charts, and tables to share the results of statistical analyses. Evaluates sources of information in order to determine any limitations in terms of completeness, reliability, or usability. Identifies relationships and trends in financial data, as well as any factors that could affect the results of research as it relates to travel and training budget and payments. Requirements Conditions of Employment Background and security investigation are required. A probationary period of one (1) year must be successfully completed. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR GRADE 11: A high school diploma or G.E.D plus seven (7) years of financial services experience which will include at least three (3) years of experience in entering, modifying, tracking, and analyzing information in computer accounting and digital accounting and digital record keeping systems. Preferred education and experience: Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or a related field that includes a minimum of 24 college credit hours in accounting plus three (3) years of experience entering, modifying, tracking, and analyzing information in computer accounting and digital record keeping systems. Experience using both manual and electronic payment systems. Experience interpreting data and drafting narrative reports for managers. Familiarity with basic operations management and knowledge of travel regulations and techniques. If you previously applied, you must reapply for consideration.
